VCA RIVER is hiring an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join the Emergency & Critical Care team at our AAHA-accredited emergency and referral hospital in Chattanooga!

About Us

We are home to a wonderful team of specialists, LVMTs, Assistants, and support staff, with services including Diagnostic Imaging, Surgery, Physical Rehabilitation, Internal Medicine, and 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care. Our doctor team includes a boarded criticalist, veterinary radiologist, certified canine rehabilitation practitioners (CCRP), and a new internist starting in late May.

Our imaging services include ultrasound, echocardiography, and CT, with MRI in the works. We offer a variety of orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, fluoroscopy via C-arm, and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Our internal medicine service will offer endoscopy, rhinoscopy, cystoscopy, and some chemotherapy. Our rehab service offers a variety of options including underwater treadmill.

About the Role

You will support our 24/7 Emergency & Critical Care service by providing advanced nursing care, diagnostics and treatments for our patients. Skills that you will be utilizing include, but are not limited to:

• Compassionate inpatient and outpatient care
• Client care and education
• Triage and patient assessment
• Surgery assisting & anesthesia
• Diagnostic imaging
• Laboratory sample collection and processing
• Pharmacy
• Catheter placement, IV fluids setup and administration, infusions, etc.
• Medical recordkeeping

Schedule: We are hiring for full time weekend day shift (8am - 8pm, Fri-Sat-Sun). We are also hiring for overnights Monday through Thursday, 10pm - 8am; we are happy to chat about which nights work for you!

Compensation: Veterinary Assistants enjoy a competitive hourly pay commensurate with experience and credentials. All overnight and weekend day shifts (Fri-Sun) are also eligible for $2/hr shift differential.
