The RMTA seeks a Vault Attendant to work on a four-person team responsible for removing coin vaults and relocating of same at each toll facility.

Job Summary: Performs intermediate semiskilled work removing coin vaults at each toll facility; completing individual vault processing, to include coin sorting, counting, and generating bank deposits and reconciliation reports; relocating vaults to designated area for eventual deposit into a bank.

Essential Job Functions
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential duties:

~ Follows a routine schedule for removal of coin vaults and relocation of same at each toll facility.
~ Using various machines, sorts and counts lane vault coins according to denomination daily.
~ Completes data entry and records machine totals, shortage, overages, kind and value of coins removed from circulation.
~ Creates reconciliation reports and revenue deposits on a daily basis.
~ Prepares coins for deposit and pickup by armored truck service.
~ Pulls vaults that were in service and replaces with empty vaults.
~ Transfers coins and cash between plazas.
~ Performs related duties as assigned.
~ Maintaining regular, reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in handling money and accounting for money recieved and disbursed.
Experience providing excellent customer service.
Or, any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

Work a three-week rotating schedule (days vary and include some weekends and holidays); morning hours; full-time position; may include some overtime.

Preferred Qualifications

~ Knowledge of basic math skills and ability to reconcile balances.
~ Good time management and attention to detail.
~ Ability to work well with others in a team environment.
~ Knowledge of windows based toll collection management systems preferred.
~ Ability to use computers, toll collection equipment, and moving equipment (hand truck).
~ Good practices involving handling money and handling deposits with outside contractors.
~ Ability to routinely lift heavy weights (up to 100 lbs.) on a regular basis and transport then across open toll lanes and plaza office facilities.
~ Prolonged standing; climbing stairs while carrying heavy objects.
~ Worker is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, and atmospheric conditions.
