The Van Driver will drive a 15-passenger van, transporting clients, making deliveries, and coordinating the maintenance of the agency vehicle.
SCOPE OF DUTIES

  • Operate agency vehicle(s) in accordance with the NJ State Regulations and Laws.
  • Coordinate the daily van schedule with appropriate program staff.
  • Pick up furniture/donations, deliver mail to and from facilities, as well as Administration Office pick up/deliveries, may include the removal of the seats from the Van for use in delivering and picking up furniture/donations.
  • Transport/escort clients to appointments as needed.
  • Monitor clients' behavior while in the van. Report problems to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintain a safe and clean operating environment in the van.
  • Ensure that appropriate safety restraints are worn at all times by the driver of the van and all passengers.
  • Ensure all routine maintenance and inspections are complete.
  • Maintain records of mileage, passengers, and trips. Report to supervisor as required.
  • Have the van washed and waxed on a routine basis.
  • Satisfactory completion of agency Defensive Driving Training within the first three months of the date of hire.
  • Interact (verbally and non-verbally) with clients, staff, and community members professionally with respect and courtesy.
  • Maintain client and staff confidentiality in compliance with administrative policies and procedures.
  • Attend and participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings, supervisory conferences, and training sessions.

Experience
Required

  • High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver's license with a good driving record/history, and able to meet agency driver standards. Good interpersonal skills.
