FT - 2:00 - 10:30 pm, Weekends necessary

Job Summary:
  • Direction of Utility Workers
  • Position orientation of new Utility Staff
  • Maintaining proper and up-to-date Call Logs, Truck Logs and Pot Washing Logs
  • Implementation of total kitchen cleaning program
  • Supervision of posted work schedules for Utility Staff
  • Responsible for quality and consistent cleaning of all dishware, flatware, glasses and other reusable food contact service ware
  • Assist in administration of Utility-Staff in-service training
  • Performance of daily sanitation inspections and adherence to all sanitation and food handling protocols
  • Maintenance of confidentiality of all pertinent resident information to assure residents’ rights and employee confidentiality
  • Assures that all Dining Services protocols and procedures are followed in accordance with established policies
  • Proper personal appearance and hygiene according to established procedures
  • Reporting of all hazardous conditions or equipment
  • Reporting of all accidents/incidents in the absence of a supervisor
  • Monitoring of all Utility operations
  • Attendance and participation in in-service training programs
  • Attends meetings as necessary
  • Performance of other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed
Pay: $21 per hour (base pay) plus Evening and Weekend differential

Position Requirements:
Educational Requirements:
  • Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
Licensure, Certification and Registration:
  • Must be sanitation certified or certified within 6 months.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Good communication skills; must be able to demonstrate effective reading, writing, speaking and analytical skills.
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to follow written instructions
  • Must be a detail-oriented person and be able to perform duties with great accuracy each day.
  • Must be able to work overtime, holidays and weekends as assigned.
  • Must be able to interface with people at all levels with the Residents in a positive and professional manner.
Other Requirements Specific to Assigned Areas:
  • Must possess the ability to supervise utility staff and work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors and the general public.
  • Must maintain the care of equipment and minimize the waste of supplies.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing practices.
Reporting Relationships:
Supervision Received:
  • Reports to and is under the supervision of the Executive Chef, A.M. Sous Chef, Relief Sous Chef and Dietician.
Supervision Exercised:
  • Directs and assists in the assembly of food trays for delivery and all utility service areas.
Tools and Equipment Used:
All kitchen equipment, appliances, utensils, and tools.

Physical Environment/Working Conditions:
  • Walks and stands for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Must function independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work with residents, personnel, support agencies, and outside agencies.
  • Frequently withstand warm to hot temperatures.
  • Use large and small food service equipment.
  • Works beyond duty hours when necessary.
Position Specifications: Full understanding and effective application of:
  • Sanitation policies and procedures.
  • Cleaning chemicals and other hazardous materials.
  • The awareness of right-to-know issues.
  • Use of HACCP protocols.
  • Proper small wares handling.
  • Resident’s rights.
  • Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Personnel management skills.
  • Training in CPR and Heimlich maneuvers.
