Summary:

The Project Manager will organize, manage, and plan projects for the organization's research, development, and product implementation efforts in the Utility Division.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees a team foreman and staff to ensure projects are completed on time and to specifications.
  • Delegates work and assignments to team members based on expertise, work experience, and time constraints.
  • Monitors crew productivity and reports crew cost for work produced

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Leads an interdepartmental team to complete an assigned project on time, to specifications, and with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Outlines the tasks involved in the project and delegates accordingly.
  • Prepares and implements a budget based on estimates.
  • Conducts risk assessments; reports identified risks to management; provides recommendations for mitigation of risk.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Prepare and monitor project schedules with overall responsibility for on-time and on-budget completion of projects.
  • Ability to prepare plan sets and other construction documents
  • Directs the day-to-day work of crews and visits the work locations to ensure safety practices are being followed and the crews are delivering quality work according to the construction plans and specifications
  • Works with permitting entities, utility owners and property owners to ensure that the projects are completed in a manner consistent with permits and right of way agreements
  • Specifying equipment requirements including, bore rigs, tow trucks, trailers, crew trucks, water and mud handling equipment, safety equipment and all other equipment required to perform the work
  • Read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained in how to do the work and how to work safely
  • Schedule crews so that work is completed to meet company completion dates
  • Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the underground crews such as approval of time sheets and management of PTO
  • Prepare detailed progress reports showing work performed, how the work is progressing against the schedule and the cost of each project
  • Maintain day-to-day communication with the Utilities Divisional Manager
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, which may include Construction Science, Business, or Engineering, preferred.
  • At least three years of related experience required.
  • PMP, PgMP, CAPM, and/or comparable project management certifications highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
