Be part of our Trim & Grind Team. A team that is responsible for the look and feel of the exposed surfaces of the hulls and parts. You will be responsible for giving the Boston Whaler boat a clean, slick line of beauty.

Position Overview

As a Trim and Grind professional you will be responsible for the key placement of drilling the holes for parts assembly and Trim/Grind the molded fiberglass hulls to specifications using templates, jibs and fixtures. You will be using a number of tools to achieve fit and flow. You will need to read blueprints and schematics. The tools you will be working with include drills, power/air tools, saws, grinders and other tools as necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements will include full face respirators, hearing protection, gloves, and protective suits
  • Requires no facial hair around area where respirator mask fits to face
  • Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching
  • Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled environment (may be above 100 ambient degrees or below 10 ambient degrees in areas of production)
  • Ability to work in a fiberglass dust environment and a fast paced, noisy environment
  • Ability to work overtime (planned and unplanned)

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

  • Must follow all safety and quality standards at all times, including chemical handling standards and PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Experience using a variety of hand and pneumatic tools
  • Basic skills in forklift, overhead hoist, and computer skills preferred
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written directions
  • Ability to work with fellow coworkers in close proximity and in a team environment displaying mutual respect
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, understand, and write English
  • High school diploma or GED required

Shifts:

We have multiple shifts to fit a variety of availability which include:

4 – 10 hr a day work weeks

5 – 8 hr a day work weeks

Donut Shift – Monday, Tuesday 10 hr days Wednesday off, Thursday, Friday 10 hr days

  • Overtime may be required based on scheduling needs. Boston Whaler reserves the right to adjust shifts and work times as business needs evolve.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
