JOB PURPOSE or JOB SUMMARY:


The Engineering Project Manager will be responsible for managing projects and their project teams from proposal development to project closure. This position requires skilled planning and the ability to communicate clearly across a team of varied technical practices. Projects are not successfully completed by individuals, but rather by an entire team working together – collaboration, led by the Engineering Project Manager, is key to our success. Engineering Project Managers are the core of our project teams, and the conduit of communication between us and our customers. To enable these channels of communication, our Project Managers exhibit a broad range of engineering technical competence combined with a core understanding of Project Management principles.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management of projects & project teams from proposal development to project closure
  • Collect and communicate customer requirements to project team to clearly define scope of work
  • Consult with project team to develop activity lists, sequences, & durations to develop and maintain a project schedule
  • Compile technical cost estimates created by project team to develop and formalize project budgets & proposals
  • Promote a culture of quality within your project team, ensuring process verification and deliverable validation throughout the project life cycle
  • Direct project team for successful completion of project deliverables and encourage their development through positive feedback and support
  • Proactively engage in clear and concise communication between all project team members, subcontractors & customers
  • Work with project team to identify project risks and develop plans for mitigation and exploitation to advance project success
  • Plan and manage subcontractor procurements to supplement Trans-Market’s areas of expertise in order to facilitate execution of project requirements
  • Follow approved methods of project change control to allow for transparency, proper documentation, and understanding between our Project Team and the Customer
  • Capability to develop top-level comprehension of technical deliverables in order to direct the Project Team - understand their requirements, obstacles, and help devise resolutions
  • Broadly provide consultation to Project Team in technical disciplines, utilizing expert knowledge
  • Direct integration of project team technical knowledge across multiple disciplines to allow for creation of successful and complete deliverables
  • Report to Upper Management, Team Managers, and Accounting regularly on status and variances to projects related to quality, budget, and schedule

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education:
Associate or bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred).

Experience and/or Training:

  • 5+ Years Managing Project Activities and/or Project Teams (preferred).


SKILLS:


Professional Skills:

  • Ability to understand, organize and manage turn-key projects independently.
  • Produces final project deliverables, with review from more senior members or management.
  • Proficiency with PC and Windows Operating system, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience in scheduling & budgeting
  • Experience with AutoCAD P&ID and/or Layout Development


Soft Skills:

  • Leads discussions within project teams and customers, with the support of project team members.
  • Foster teamwork, cross department collaboration, and build relationships both internal and external
  • Leverage relationships and proximity to customer to funnel sales opportunities into KPG
  • General social skills, capacity for teamwork, problem-solving competence, general project management, time- and self-management, coordination and organizational skills, and communication skills.
  • Professional and positive attitude that promotes collaboration with team members


PHYSICAL / WORKING DEMANDS:


  • The work environment is a professional office environment where a conservative business dress code is in effect. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.


  • Equipment use includes computer, calculator, and telephone.


  • Ability to understand both spoken and written directions and good vision required.


  • Personal protective equipment required includes protective toed safety shoes and safety glasses with side shields (when on the manufacturing floor).


  • Maintain a safe working environment and comply with all safety and environmental policies/procedures. An employee is responsible for notifying their immediate supervisor of a violation or deficiency in working conditions and for recommending corrective measures, if possible.
