Job Title: Tool Room Machinist

Department: Tool Room

Reports To: Machine Shop Supervisor

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: $28.00+ based on experience

Summary: Responsible for making tools, fixtures, and short-run production in support of engineering, production, and affiliated branches by performing the following duties.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Operates Prototrak CNC mills and lathes. *

2. Operates manual machine shop equipment, including band saw and surface grinder.

3. Reads blueprints. *

4. Learn and operate EDM and other new equipment as needed.

5. Operates standard inspection, metrology equipment and gauges. *

Qualifications:

Minimum of five years’ experience. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to use geometry, and trigonometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:

· Ability to work in a team environment

· Phone and email communication skills

· Knowledge of speeds, feeds, and tool selection

· Ability to conceptualize complex machine setups for machining of complicated components
