Position Description:

This position will assist with the management oversight and execution of the AFCENT TEMPEST program and serve as the focal point for AFCENT theater TEMPEST issues. The employee shall:

  • Complete TEMPEST assessments for AFCENT A6-owned classified processing areas (CPAs).
  • Assess classified processing areas and ensure countermeasure compliance in accordance with AFSSIs 7700, 7702 and AFMAN 17-1301 (and future publication releases).
  • Complete annual TEMPEST countermeasure compliance reviews for AFCENT A6-owned CPAs.
  • Provide TEMPEST guidance and assistance to AFCENT command staff and subordinate cybersecurity offices.
  • Draft AFCENT TEMPEST policy and instructions for review and approval by AFCENT/A6.
  • Implement and distribute AF TEMPEST policies and procedures, Emission Security Information Messages (ESIMs), TEMPEST Information Messages (TIMs) and training information provided by the Air Force Certified TEMPEST Technical Authority (AF CTTA).
  • Travel OCONUS in support of AFCENT Expeditionary Wing TEMPEST requirements and provide support for geographically separated units/forward operating bases (GSUs/FOBs).
  • Assist AFCENT personnel at all levels with the technical aspects of applying countermeasures.
  • Provide training to Wing TEMPEST technicians, if they have not completed formal training at Keesler AFB, Mississippi.
  • Assist AFCENT Wing TEMPEST Managers by reviewing assessments for compliance prior to submission to the AF CTTA office.
  • Maintain records of all AFCENT TEMPEST assessments and countermeasure reviews.
  • Complete new TEMPEST assessments of AFCENT CPAs when a local Expeditionary Wing TEMPEST Manager is unavailable
  • Assess classified processing areas and ensure countermeasure compliance in accordance with AFSSIs 7700, 7702 and AFMAN 33-214 Volume 1
  • Conduct technician/user training, and review procedures, policy compliance, resource availability, records management, local training products, and security/program shortfalls.
  • Brief commanders and supervisors on TEMPEST assessment/inspection expectations, results, and recommendations.
  • Review expeditionary wing Protective Distribution System (PDS) plans for AF policy compliance prior to submission to the AF CTTA Office and AFCENT ISSM.

Education and Certifications:

  • Air Force TEMPEST Manager Course, TEMPEST Fundamentals (NTS), Red/Black Installation Guidance (NTS)
  • MA/MS in related field AND 3 or more years’ TEMPEST experience and comprehensive knowledge of TEMPEST, physical information, and cybersecurity policies; or BS in related field and 5 or more years’ TEMPEST experience and comprehensive knowledge of TEMPEST, physical, information, and cyber security polices; or 7 or more years’ of TEMPEST experience and comprehensive knowledge of TEMPEST, physical, information, and cyber security polices
  • CAP or CASP+CE or CISM or CISSP or GSLC or CCISO or HCISSP Certification (IAM Level II)
