Tempering Technician (Day or Night schedule)

(Sun. – Tues. and every other Sat. 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)

Starting Pay $20.50/hr with progressive increases

Job Summary: Tempering Technicians are responsible for safely performing a variety of duties including operating and maintaining furnace functions, loading and sanding product, inspecting/setting-up/packing/closing glass, cases and racks.

Principle Responsibilities:

· While performing Furnace Operator duties: Setting the temperature of the furnace, adjusting air flow, performing quality checks for standards and furnace malfunctions (inspect/monitor broken glass around oven, checking rolls and watching SO2 flow).

· While performing Edger/Loader duties: Loading the sheets of glass, sanding all edges, inspecting for quality, operating washer and logo printer, performing maintenance on seamers and logo machine.

· While performing Closing/Inspection duties: Inspecting glass for defects, verifying dimension for size changes, ensuring proper logo and logo placement on every lite, verifying glass meets all quality specifications prior to sending to packer, closing racks and cases in accordance with Cardinal specification for loading to the warehouse ensuring all racks are measured, ensuring glass in packer is correct and closing racks as directed by Quality Control’s cover sheet

· While performing Closer duties: Closing racks and cases in accordance to Cardinal specification for loading to the warehouse including measuring racks, checking logo placement/lot # ensuring glass in packer is correct, and closing racks as directed by Quality Control’s cover sheet

· While performing Fork Truck/Packer duties: Setting up cases and racks for upcoming schedules, assisting line driver, handling glass and packing according to daily schedule, and discarding bad sheets of glass.

· Wearing all required safety equipment and following safe work practices.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

· Must be 18 years of age

· Knowledge of basic computer skills

· Forklift experience is a plus

Salary: $20.50 - $22.50 per hour
