Basic Function

The Materials Inventory Technician is responsible for having a thorough knowledge of the MOWP process, kitting and staging. This position is responsible for exercising independent judgment and decision making as it relates to proper inventory handling and control. The individual serving in this capacity must be available for on-call on a rotational basis and respond to callouts.

Roles & Responsibilities

The following are the basic responsibilities for a Materials Inventory Technician and are general guidelines of the expectations; not intended to restrict assignments. Materials Inventory responsibilities frequently overlap and may vary; therefore, specific responsibilities will be determined by the MM Lead based on personnel availability, skill requirements, fair distribution, and workload.

The responsibilities include:

• Receiving (stock/nonstock) materials
• Placing materials into storage
• Maintaining storage of materials
• Picking/issuing/returning materials
• Safe handling and shipping of materials and returns
• Loading and unloading shipments using forklift
• Screen materials for Positive Material Identification (PMI) testing where applicable (site specific)
• Know and follow Maintenance Operations Workflow Process (MOWP)
• Maintain stock out log
• Sample zone stores receipts
• Kitting and staging process to include tracking and reporting
• Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment
• Responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations
• Maintain a safe working environment, comply with all safety guidelines, and know evacuation procedure
• Become forklift certified, know delivery locations, and be skilled in loading and unloading shipments
• Department of Transportation (DOT) Certification
• Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) requirements compliance
• Knowledge of handling and storage of cylinder gases and 55-gallon drums
• Practice good housekeeping, attend required safety training and participate in local site safety programs
• Participate in routine location audits and physical inventory cycle counts.
• Understand purpose of Key Performance Indicators tracked, analyze trends, and report deviations from the norm to MM Lead for corrective action.

Qualifications

• Minimum of High School degree or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years warehouse/inventory control experience.
• Thorough knowledge of the Zone Stores, purpose, materials in the zones, replenishment, and payment process.
• Proficient in the use of a company-wide computer system to effectively manage the business of the warehouse and support internal customers.
• Ability to conduct location audits and cycle counts.
• Forklift license
