Cell Isolation Tech I - 25/hour

Description:

An individual in this role performs human tissue primary cell isolation, performs testing and quality control of cell or tissue samples, assists with laboratory troubleshooting, maintains laboratory records in accordance with written procedures, and assist senior staff with experiments. They will maintain & clean the research suite and safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials.

Laboratory – Routine (70%)

• Isolate primary human cells
• Perform primary human (adherent) cell culture
• Execute the daily lab work plan with supervision
• Record and maintain data in accordance with protocols
• Assist senior technicians with general laboratory troubleshooting
• Assist with functional and/or metabolic assays
• Perform quality control of cell or tissue samples
• Maintain laboratory records in accordance with written procedures
• Safe handling and disposal of biohazardous materials
• Read, understand, and follow all SOPs as trained
• Perform other duties as assigned

Organization & Maintenance (20%)

• Maintain research suite in appropriate order which includes decontamination and disinfection of floors, tables, and wall surfaces
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
• Monitor inventory of team laboratory supplies

Laboratory/Communication (10%)

• Assist senior staff with experiments
• Prepare supplies required for procedures
• Data organization and preparation for review by supervisor or manager

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree within science or medical field

1 year or more of technician experience

6+ months working with human or animal biologic matter

• Organizational and documentation skills
• Good interpersonal skills and an ability to take work direction
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members
• Ability to apply critical thinking to new problems
• Good time management skills to complete multiple tasks within a workday
• Good written and verbal communication skills
