Tek-Pal Remote

$45 an hour

The position will be writing various documents (standard operating procedures, how-to instructions, user guides, etc.) for the Governor’s Office of Information Technology. The work will include meeting with subject matter experts, conducting research on products and technology, and understanding processes in order to produce documentation that is easy to understand, branded, accessible, and using the templates and processes for OIT’s Knowledge Management procedures.

Tasks:

  • Assist with editing and updating knowledge articles in the Self Service Knowledge Base (100+ articles). This will include reviewing the content, updating the layout and branding as needed, and ensuring the articles follow the standards set by the Communications Office.
  • Assist specific Knowledge Managers and their teams to write, edit and standardize knowledge articles. Teams may include, but are not limited to, Service Management Office, Identity and Access Management, and the Service Desk.
  • Assist with editing and updating knowledge articles in the OIT Knowledge Base (articles used for internal OIT teams).
  • Meet with assigned teams to generate ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Support Knowledge Managers to update and edit articles that receive feedback from users to need improvement.
  • Within limits set by a specific process, define and document what operation is required to carry out the process.
  • Study technical information to determine what it means and how it fits together in order to document solutions to problems and tasks.
  • Determine the clearest and most logical way to present information for greatest reader comprehension.

Skills and Experience Needed:

  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral,with experience in writing standard operating procedures, user guides, etc.
  • Experience and expertise in creating accessible documents in the Google Suite (using appropriate formatting, co-authoring, etc.).
  • Experience documenting information in a clear and logical format to present information for greatest reader comprehension.
  • Experience producing written work regarding computers or information technology for an audience of members of the general public preferred
  • Experience working with diverse teams and subject matter experts (technical and non-technical) to understand a system or process and translating the information into easy to understand instructions.
  • Experience with reviewing and/or copy editing content developed by other members of the team.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to estimate durations of time needed to edit existing documents and to create new documents.
