Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Quality Assurance, the Technical Services Specialist will support the development and implementation of the technical services program at the Leedom,aa Livingston and Verduga (Hughson Nut) facilities for our edible nuts division. They will develop collaborative working relationships with our production, quality and external customers while maintaining customer and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate will have a great sense of attention to detail along with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities. They should possess phenomenal communication skills and build collaborative working relationships with cross functional business partners. Ability to work well under pressure with many competing demands will be required for success in this position.

Position Responsibilities

  • Manage Technical documents for edible nuts.
  • Manage all the specification, standard and non-standard documents.
  • Create, update and upload technical documentations for ofi – edible nuts.
  • Manage the SharePoint for the IQ Technical Services.
  • Responsible for Technical Document Requests (TDR) entry into customer specific sites.
  • Service as the primary contact for specification requirements and customer approval of the requirements.
  • Manage the Non-GMO verification program, organic (domestic and international) and Kosher certifications.
  • Track and analyze the number of TDRs, maintain TDR Scorecards, and make recommendations for improvement strategies.
  • Maintain the TDR and Specification SharePoint and ensure that documents are up to date.
  • Manage the Annual Monitoring Program of non-routine test in collaboration with the ofi Farming and Manufacturing teams.
  • Publish the Annual Monitoring Program based Technical Documents on-time.
  • Ensure compliance with procedures and requirements as outlined/agreed to in the Customer Quality Manual and/or contracts by alerting the Planning and Customer Operations team.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for technical services to ofi edible nuts.
  • Support other QA and Food Safety initiatives as needed.
  • Maintain customer and regulatory compliance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, or a related field is required. Masters' degree is preferred.
  • Two (2) years of experience in technical services/Quality Assurance, R&D & manufacturing in Food Industry is required.
  • Experience with Global Food Safety Initiate (GFSI) program lead auditor and Preventative Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) Trained is preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret quality and regulatory documents domestic and international
  • Experience in Operating with SAP enterprise business system and exposure to vendor quality management is preferred.
  • Proven ability to interact effectively with department, company or customer associates and experience in a team-oriented environment is required.
  • Ability to work with a varied group of associates with Food Scientists, Engineers, Agriculture experts, Planning, Customer Operations, Sales, in a collaborative environment is required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Experience with nutritional and labeling requirements.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between the three (3) Hughson Nut plants is required.
