Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.

This position is responsible for developing new or improved existing products of PVC resins and compounds .To initiate Vinyl Technical Department's R&D projects with significant profits or cost savings and create more value-added products. To provide creative ideas to promote the production unit, QA/QC group, technical services group, and external customers. All while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health, safety regulations, and company requirements.

Project and Technology Development: Develop and deliver new and improved products and applications promptly to generate value creation and/or cost-saving; improve the competitiveness of our product portfolio and product quality to meet customers’ needs, and work closely with customers to be a solution provider.

Operations Support: Provide technical support to the Operating Units, which will enable the Unit to achieve smooth operation, manufacture high-quality products and avoid unscheduled process interruptions. Act as liaison between customer needs and Operations capabilities to prevent further discrepancies.

Customer Focus: React with expediency and accuracy to determine the root cause of customer problems and provide solutions to resolve them. Recommend improvements to product specifications and their quality measurement. Handle customer complaints utilizing customer analyses and retain samples and production histories, update progress regularly with sales and customers, and make resolution recommendations. Provide customer requests such as special analysis to retained samples, customer samples, or finished products. Provide expertise targeted at improving and strengthening internal and external customer relationships to facilitate sales and business. Work with equipment/additive suppliers to identify new trends that could impact company or customer business.

Leadership and Staff Development: Coach and lead individual team members for continued development.

Previous Related Experience Required
No prior experience is required but 1 ~ 2 experience in a petro-chemical refinery environment is a plus.

Technical Skills Required To Perform This Job
  • Must be able to troubleshoot problems and have a good working knowledge of PVC compounding process .
  • Must be organized in a manner that allows multiple issues to be handled at the same time
  • Personal computer skills and applicable software. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Good business and technical writing capability.
  • Demonstrate exceptional teamwork and customer service; behave professionally; treat others with respect and dignity.
  • Self-driven work and work under objectives administration.
Education
B.S. Degree Chemical engineering; Other related engineering disciplines considered.

Other Certification/Training Required To Gain Function-Related Technical Knowledge
Will require training in Company Policies and Procedures after hire.

Current employees must meet all technical and safety training requirements for current
position, as specified in the Master Training Plan.
