GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Technical Designer will initiate and manage the BSN Sports apparel technical development and specifications. This person will also manage and maintain the PLM development system and act as the specification liaison with VB partners. The Technical Designer will also evaluate, provide revisions and specification approvals. They will work cross functionally with internal partners such as Merchandising and Procurement; and will be the key day to day contact with product development, garment testing, raw material teams, prototype production and quality.

FUNCTIONS

• Create and implement best practices for 3D design software
• Assemble DXF true size patterns in 3D using life like materials of all utilized fabrics, trims, embellishments, and hardware
• Create and revise 2D visuals and patterns to 3D
• Troubleshooting issues with 3D software and working closely with 3D company to implement necessary upgrades in technology
• Building and maintaining 3D library
• Generating new and evolved techniques to represent various fabrications to look as realistic as possible where applicable
• Managing/Uploading 3D files to communicate with Pattern Department
• Manage and implement samples of styles to be translated to 3D Varsity Brands Design Studio representation with calendar due dates
• Integrate the digital design process with the existing product development and production process
• Create a virtual fabric library to be used in the 3D sample process
• Ability to create tech packs and 3D visuals from 2D files
• Evaluate and provide recommendation on development

SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Knowledge of pattern making and garment construction
• Understanding of raw materials
• Excellent communication skills
• Bachelor-s degree in Fashion Design with additional 3D qualifications
• Passion for design technology and innovation
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Illustrator, Corel, InDesign or Creative Suite
• Previous experience of fashion supply chain software (PLM)
• Ability to take constructive criticism and incorporate feedback
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple tasks at the same time
• Knowledge of fit, patterns, construction utilizing stretch and specialty fabrics
• Utmost attention to detail
• Strong project management and problem-solving skills
• Excellent time management skills; consistently meets deadlines; highly organized
• Excellent communicator (written and verbal); ability to obtain and share information timely to keep other team members informed on fast-moving projects
• Flexible team player; able to quickly adapt to change

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 3-5 years of design experience in athletic/fitness apparel or custom apparel
• 2+ years of previous experience using 3D garment visualization technology, including expertise in CLO 3D or similar 3D design software

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
