Teachers are defined as the adult with the primary responsibility for a group of children. A group or classroom is defined by the regulatory and/or quality maximum group size for children of different ages and developmental levels.

Reporting relationships: Teachers are supervised by the Director and Education Coordinator. They supervise and work with the Assistant Teacher(s) in their classroom. They also supervise employees of job placement programs, students, volunteers and others as assigned.

Teachers are required to have a minimum of an associate’s degree or equivalent, or a baccalaureate degree or equivalent. The STARS Career Pathway placement should be verified at Level B or above.

Additionally, teachers will participate in a minimum of twenty four hours of professional development per year, maintain records of such training, and contribute to their plan for professional development each year. Required STARS professional development is included in these hours.

Teachers also must keep their information, professional development plans and Pennsylvania Professional Development Registry content up to date, and complete updates as required. Information must be uploaded to the Registry within 60 days of hire date. Required physicals and testing are to be completed in a timely manner.
