The Family Place was established in 1997 by community leaders and parents with the mission to strengthen families and build resiliency through support, education, and community building. We design engaging educational programs and environments where children and youth can learn and thrive alongside their parents and caregivers. We partner with families and build a strong foundation for parents/caregivers to identify and meet their needs as well as those of each family member.

The Family Place believes strongly in the power of community collaboration to holistically serve families, and in addition to TC STRONG (www.weareTCSTRONG.org) also serves as a lead organization for GetSet, our community’s early childhood initiative (www.getset-tc.org/).

TC STRONG is a community collaborative founded in January 2022 to bring our schools and community together in support of the mental health and emotional well-being of our school-aged youth.

Oversight is provided by the TC Strong Leadership Team which includes executive representatives from its three Lead Organizations: Transylvania Public Health, Transylvania County Schools, and The Family Place. The Family Place serves as the fiduciary for TC Strong for purposes of grants/funds management, for hosting core TC STRONG staff, and for sponsoring/hosting aligned programs, activities and services where appropriate.

Job Description

The TC STRONG Program Director is responsible for the effective delivery of all TC STRONG programs, services, and activities as directed by its Leadership Team, in accordance with TC STRONG core strategies and annual operational plan. The Director reports to and directly supports the Executive Director of The Family Place in managing the operational interface between TC STRONG activities and other Family Place programs, activities, and services.

This role offers a unique opportunity to make a profound and lasting impact on our youth by leveraging and coordinating the commitments of the Leadership Organizations, TC STRONG Steering Team, TC Strong Community Network, and other youth-facing constructs (e.g. Voice of the Students).

The TC STRONG Program Director will be the face of TC STRONG in our community. He/she will possess the strategic vision necessary to achieve short term youth mental health objectives while directing our community’s investment in generational change by building more resilient families.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, healthcare, psychology, education, social services, or related field preferred.
  • Two years of experience in working directly with school-aged youth development required. (relevance of activities to youth mental health preferred)

Critical Competencies

  • TECHNICAL SKILLS:Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.

Proficiency in Google suite, Adobe, and MS Office suite.
Ability to learn The Family Place’s resident data management system and regularly submit program data and outcomes.
Ability to work collaboratively with the Communications Team as appropriate regarding social media strategies and website maintenance.
Ability to create, coordinate, and/or facilitate workshops and training sessions.
Bilingual preferred.

  • INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain supportive connections with school-aged youth.
  • Ability to function as part of a leadership team while supporting a large community collaborative network to promote successful outcomes for youth.
  • Comfortable with recruitment, building new relationships, and community building.
  • Working from an internal framework of cultural sensitivity, instinctively treats all with kindness, respect, and empathy.

Other Requirements

  • Current driver’s license, clean driving record, and vehicle insurance.
  • Completion of required Family Place training.
  • Ability to pass a background check (including Sex Offender Registry check).
  • Willingness/ability to work flexible hours.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • DEVELOP & IMPLEMENT PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, & SERVICES:Directly support implementation of new programs.

Provide necessary oversight and support to assure that TC STRONG programs, activities, and services are successful (performing effectively and achieving related goals and outcomes)

  • _DOCUMENT & REPORT:

_Collect data, including intake/outtake testing, entry, and managementTrack outcomes and data required for program and contract funding
Contribute to program planning and evaluation by maintaining up to date records
Monitor participant and program’s progress toward the attainment of performance measures in compliance with funder and program requirements
Collaborate with The Family Place’s Director of Development on any documentation/reporting necessary to support TC STRONG resource development (e.g. grants, funding requests).

  • SUPPORT COMMUNICATION:Maintain effective communication and engagement between TC STRONG Leadership Team, Steering Team, Community Stakeholder Network, and The Family Place.

Manage the operational interface between TC STRONG activities and other Family Place programs, activities, and services, working closely with The Family Place Executive Director and Director of Operations.
Write and publish press releases, articles, and marketing/promotional materials.
Support the TC STRONG Communications Team as needed/requested.
Maintains appropriate confidentiality and sensitivity of information, at all times.
Develop, prepare, and present written and oral reports concerning program activities, objectives, and effectiveness.

  • BUILD CONNECTIONS:Serve on and lead committees with community partners and other stakeholders as needed.

Function as liaison between young people and a variety of youth services agencies and mental health professionals.
Work with new and existing partner organizations to design and continually expand on youth and family support services for.
Create and foster community and organizational partnerships.
Support the development of cross-community relationships as capacity allows and where mutually beneficial regarding youth mental health and emotional well-being objectives.
Directly support promotional and community awareness activities.

  • PROMOTE EQUITY:
  • Develop and incorporate screening approaches for all TC STRONG programs, activities, and services and related outcomes for potential to positively impact marginalized/at-risk youth and family populations.
  • Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary staff in cross-departmental efforts to increase services to specific youth populations and provide necessary support.
  • Conduct internal and external outreach to recruit participants from marginalized and/or at-risk communities to participate in programs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $46,000.00 per year
