Job Title: Tax Site Coordinator

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Reporting to: Tax Services Manager

Department: Programs

Scope:
Responsible for managing tax sites and integrating Wayne Metro services and products within tax services with the purpose of empowering low/moderate income taxpayers to become financially stable. Responsible for growth and sustainability of tax site, services and opportunities based on community needs.

Essential Functions
  • Coordinate and train staff and volunteers on tax law, site procedures and operation.
  • Manage day-to-day operation of tax sites following all IRS guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensure all tax returns are 100% peer-to-peer quality reviewed at the tax site.
  • Prepare and efile tax returns within the IRS electronic filing guidelines.
  • Ensure that tax site meet IRS Quality site Requirements and is in compliance with security, privacy, confidentiality and standard of conducts set by Wayne Metro and IRS.
  • Act as main contact with IRS at the tax site during Site Quality Reviews.
  • Act as principle resource on tax law.
  • Prepare and complete data entry of files.
  • Attend trainings and assist in organizing community events.
  • Promote savings at tax time.
  • Facilitate integration of Wayne Metro programs and services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in various spaces including, but not limited to, a professional office, community rooms and libraries with a usually quiet noise level. This is largely a sedentary role and the employee must transport, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, frequently use hands and to talk or hear.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associates degree in Finance or Accounting OR a minimum of 3 years of experience in tax preparation or a related field.
  • Willingness to complete IRS VITA/TCE Program Certifications: Advance level, Site Coordinator and Specialty Course required by hire date.
  • Experience in training staff and/or volunteers
  • Experience in multi-site management and supervision, outreach and/or marketing.
  • Highly organized, attentive to detail and solution oriented

Minimum Competencies:
  • Working knowledge of basic internet applications and programs including Google technology and Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Publisher. The ability to learn and utilize the necessary programs and office equipment for this position.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Maintain a positive attitude towards assigned work, clients, and staff.
  • Use sound judgement and initiative to analyze and resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form.
  • Good interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, planning, organizing, punctuality, and dependability.
  • Ability to provide services for those persons facing economic, social, health, age, and educational barriers.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment (as deemed necessary).
  • Perform work in a manner that upholds Wayne Metro policies and procedures.


Travel Requirements:

Ability to travel to various sites.

Licensing and Other Requirements:

  • Valid identification and reliable transportation.
  • Must be COVID-19 vaccinated, or partially, with the ability to complete within 30-days of employment. Circumstances preventing vaccination, and corresponding accommodations will be reviewed and considered.

Work Hours:

Work schedule is Monday – Friday, with specific hours (and occasional Saturdays) to be determined by department needs.
