The Tax Accountant assists in the preparation of federal income and state margin tax returns including partnerships/LLCs (various rental properties and land returns, varying from basic to complex consolidation returns with multi-properties and/or multi-divisions), S-Corps (GPs, Construction), corporations, (HOAs), and family trusts. Responsibilities also include general ledger entries, work paper maintenance and review, and preparation of financial reporting for budgeting and forecasting purposes.

Job Responsibilities:

    • Work with team to ensure timely and accurate completion of tax returns with company and federal/state deadlines
    • Produce neat, well-maintained, and accurate work papers and returns
    • Help ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly financial reporting, forecasts and annual budgets (as needed)
    • Prepare year-end tax work papers and Federal income tax returns and Texas Margin Tax returns (Company tax season is mid-February through October 15th)
    • Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts with a focus on year end finalization of balance sheets and income statements
    • Quarterly review and analysis of partner distributions and contributions
    • Assist in preparation of annual estimated value balance sheets/financials
    • Assist in the production and analysis of reports for executives on performance
    • Banking and other general accounting work as assigned
    • Additional projects as assigned by tax managers

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree required; accounting major strongly preferred
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in the tax preparation industry (public required) with a focus on basic to complex partnerships
  • Knowledge of partnerships, S-Corp, corporation and trust tax law and preparation preferred
  • Knowledge of general ledger accounting with strong emphasis on balance sheet, income statement and trial balance analysis preferred
  • Strong Excel skills required
  • Lacerte Tax Software experience preferred
  • Yardi Voyager experience preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, communication skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Strong work ethic
