Job Description
The City of Chesapeake is looking for a Systems Analyst II to support all aspects of the City and Schools PeopleSoft financials system. This position will serve as team lead and will be responsible for managing staff and project as well as providing technical services. The selected candidate will contribute to the analysis, development, maintenance, testing and support of this system by engaging in various customer facing tasks such as business process definition and requirements gathering. Additionally, this position requires the ability to supervise and work with technical staff to develop and maintain effective solutions. Strong project management experience in necessary.

Required Qualifications
VOCATIONAL / EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT : Requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this job class requires a minimum of three years of full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : Requires a valid driver’s license and a driving record that is in compliance with City Driving Standards. As applicable, Information Technology based positions must meet requirements specified in Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) policy for access to the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Employees may be expected to work hours in excess of their normally scheduled hours in response to short-term department needs and/or City-wide emergencies. Emergency operations support work and work locations may be outside of normal job duties.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Technical / Administrative experience implementing and supporting PeopleSoft or other similar financial systems.
  • Experience writing and troubleshooting Nvision reports.

  • Superior customer service skills
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks effectively
