JOB SUMMARY

Under general direction and in compliance with standard operating procedures and policies, assists with providing professional and technical support for The City of Goose Creek networks, in the following areas: general system administration, specialized system administration, network administration, and cloud administration. Regularly exercises a moderate level of discretion in the interpretation and application of policies, standard operating procedures, and rules to determine appropriate courses of action in the performance of job responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • System administration for workstations, servers, and various network and infrastructure devices, to include installation/imaging, patching, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems to resolution on the required Operating System.
  • Administration of MS Windows 2016/2022 Server Active Directory environment.
  • Support and troubleshoots network problems for City locations.
  • License management, backup management, and assists with SCCM Implementation.
  • Ensures all servers, workstations, and various network and infrastructure devices adhere to security and compliance requirements.
  • Performs configuration changes, conducts log analysis, system hardening, and manages and maintains security compliance.
  • Design, plan, administers, manages and maintains LAN/ WAN network infrastructure.
  • Veeam Backup Management.
  • Provides design, deployment, management, maintenance, and troubleshooting of systems in the below environments: Enterprise software distribution and management tools, Directory structure management, Virtualization infrastructure, Storage arrays, Endpoint security servers, and Databases.
  • Generates reports for management including but not limited to web usage and phone reports.
  • Workstation hardware/ software maintenance.
  • Provides advanced break/fix support on a wide variety of network-related hardware and software systems. Troubleshoots and maintains network infrastructure issues with IT team.
  • Provides assistance and documentation regarding installations, upgrades, and special projects.
  • Develops/streamlines procedures for frequently performed tasks.
  • Supports the production IT equipment.
  • Responds to service requests, seeing through to completion in a timely manner; Seeks assistance from IT team members as necessary.
  • Checks all backup reports on daily basis. Ensures data is protected and reports all anomalies.
  • Assists in keeping accurate information on network/software structures.
  • Develops and creates Standardized Work Instructions for tasks that department and associates using different hardware and software would use.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field, preferred
  • Two years' work experience in Systems Administration.
  • Any combination of education and experience totaling six years may be considered.
  • Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
  • Work experience with Active Directory, required
  • Work experience in VMWare and Windows Server Management, required
  • Work experience supporting and managing O365, required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of network TCP/IP, switch configurations and firewall settings.
  • Ability to assist in maintaining City camera hardware and software to include troubleshooting, working directly with associated vendors, and hardware expansion.
  • Ability to install security patches, upgrade operating systems, and schedule maintenance to minimize or avoid downtime.
  • Ability in developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures.
  • Ability to manage the daily activities of local and wide area network systems, perform diagnostics, and schedule preventative maintenance ensuring network systems are operational.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of the City's data and information systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical journals, department policies, and other documents used by department.
  • Ability to make mathematical calculations and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to write general correspondence, emails, and maintain written records of completed work and update network documentation.
  • Ability to operate general office equipment to include scanner, printer, copier, telephone, mobile phone, personal computer, laptop, tablet, associated software, servers, routers, and switches.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively, written or verbal, with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate and work as part of a team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work is heavy and requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 50 pounds of force to move objects and the following physical abilities: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

MENTAL DEMANDS

Frequently requires performing multiple tasks simultaneously and working closely with others as part of a team. Occasionally requires time pressures, emergency situations, frequent change of tasks, irregular schedule/overtime, and tedious or exacting work.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed indoors, relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions or hazards.
