POSITION TITLE

CAD/BIM Technician

LOCATION

Hybrid - Remote/New York City, NY

OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Principal of Geomatics, the CAD Technician uses drafting software by preparing site plans, plan drawings, detail drawings, sketches, and diagrams. The CAD/BIM Technician is responsible for the proper setup and management of the drawing files, the production and printing of drawings, and the maintenance of the project drawing database. Makes simple decisions but refers most technical questions/problems to the Project Manager or Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Uses computer-assisted design/drafting (AutoCAD, Carlson, MicroStation, and/or Civil 3D) software to develop design and construction documents.
• Responsible for setting up and maintaining an organized file system for project drawings and models.
• Create and revise project plans, schedules, and detailed drawings.
• Utilizes knowledge of various engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and other physical sciences to assist with the completion of drawings.
• Reviews and incorporates input from the Project Manager. Backchecks that all comments have been properly incorporated and resolved.
• Coordinates drawings with backgrounds of relevant disciplines (e.g. architecture, landscape architecture, MEP, etc.) to detect missing items or changes that require further review.
• Reviews all work prior to issuance or printing for conformance to company and/or client drawing standards.
• Supports the review and updates of company drafting standards.
• Stays up to date with software changes, procedures, and industry drafting standards.
• Performs work in an efficient and timely fashion to meet allocated budget and deadlines.

REQUIREMENTS

• Associate degree in Engineering/Drafting from a Technical Institute or accredited curriculum; Bachelor’s degree in Engineering a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and verbal communication skills.
• Able to thrive in a team-focused environment and engage in creative, critical thought; takes initiative and can function at a high level on project teams.
• Able to multi-task and jump into new or existing project assignments as requested.
• Proficient with Carlson or AutoCAD Civil3D
• Experience with drafting survey base plans and knowledge of survey procedures.
