Surgical Technician - FT Job at Drew Memorial Hospital
The Operating Room Technician is a
professional who is responsible for the preparation of the operating room suite
and directly assist the physician throughout procedure while passing
instrumentation and keeping sterile environment. LPN may train in role.
Role
and Responsibilities:
Daily Functions:
- Carries out assignments daily. This
- Determine room is in readiness and
- Scrub, gown, and glove self and
- Count sponges, needles, and
- Anticipate Surgeon's needs and
team's use.
- Label all solutions/medications as
- Assist with sterile table and room
materials, sharps, and needles.
- Update Surgeon's Preference Card,
- Maintains good working relationship
- Accepts responsibility for regular
- Safeguards hospital equipment from
- Reports and requests repair for
- Observes confidentiality and
- Accepts float assignments
- Will maintain sterile environment
- Will be required to be “on call”
- Conducts Self in a Professional
Qualifications
and Education Requirements/Preferred Skills:
- Training in surgical technique with work history preferred
- CPR Certified required
- Perform other duties as assigned
Safety
Incumbent must be attentive at all times to their own
personal safety, as well as the safety of patients, their families, visitors
and employees of Drew Memorial Hospital. Hazardous and/or potentially hazardous
conditions are to be immediately reported to a member of management. In
accordance with Act 593, this position is considered a “Safety Sensitive
Position,” as it requires the incumbent to work with confidential information
or documents that may pertain to criminal investigations. Working with
hazardous or flammable materials, controlled substances, food, or medicine.
Physical
Requirements
The physical activities involve balancing,
climbing, crawling, crouching, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing,
reaching, standing, stooping, and use of fingers and repetitive
movements. An individual in this position may be required to carry or lift
weight of up to 50 lbs. and push/pull 100-150 lbs. The sensory and
communicative activities required for this position include feeling, hearing,
seeing, smelling, and speaking. Individuals in this position could possibly be
exposed to inside/outside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens and
body fluids, chemical hazards, respiratory hazards and radiological hazards.
