Surgery Scheduler, OPA - Anchorage, Full - Time

Orthopedic Physicians Alaska seeks a highly skilled, dedicated, and professional Surgery Scheduler to join our rapidly growing and dynamic team. This is a fast-paced, multi-faceted role in which you will work directly with providers, patients, and surgical facilities.

Schedule
: Monday through Friday: 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Representative duties
  • Primarily works with surgeons, medical staff, and patients to obtain a surgery date and schedule all components of surgery
  • Answer patient calls and follow up with patients
  • Able to handle multiple interruptions during the day while maintaining a high volume of surgery orders

Knowledge and skill requirements
  • Able to prioritize multiple tasks and work with a variety of patient care teams (pre-certification, coding, financial counselors, and other providers’ offices)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, personable, caring, and able to help patients feel at ease
  • Able to maintain a calm demeanor when under pressure
  • Skill in operating a personal computer using a variety of software applications

Required qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred (in addition to required) qualifications
  • One (1) year of clinical experience
  • Able to understand medical charts and diagnoses and coding for billing purposes
  • Experience with EHR software
