Curie Learning, LLC is an after-school program that focuses on enriching the education of students ages 6-12. The program is specifically designed to challenge students to meet their academic potential in mathematics, writing, reading comprehension, and vocabulary skills. The curriculum is loosely based on the Virginia State Standards for the students' upcoming grade/classes in school, with a strong focus on critical thinking and application of skills. The courses of this program include test preparation courses (including PSAT and admittance exams into local prestigious high schools/programs), along with summer courses including supplementary English classes, and various English, writing, and science camps.

SUMMARY OF THE SUMMER ENGLISH POSITION:

We are seeking qualified English Teachers for evenings and weekends teach pre-determined classes in the evening and weekends through the summer months. Student ages range from 8 years - 13 years. Each class includes students who are approximately the same age. Teachers can accept positions given the age of the students and their comfort level.

A full curriculum for each class will be provided. Our curriculum is very organized and easy to follow.

Most evening classes run from 6:15pm - 8:30pm. Weekend times are usually in the morning hours.

Teachers are expected to arrive 10 minutes before class and to stay at most 10 minutes after class if students and/or parents have inquiries.

Compensation ranges from $35-$100/hr depending upon the number of students for each class.

The key areas of responsibility include:

- Teach/Tutor students in the intended subject area.

- Assess homework assignments and return them in a timely fashion

- Check emails weekly. (An email account will be provided.)

- Manage a group of students in a classroom environment.

- Make oneself available for student and parent questions.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Part Time candidates must possess the following qualifications:

- College Graduate (Bachelor Degree minimum) with qualifications in English or a teaching-related field. Teaching experience preferred.

- Passion for working with kids

- Excellent communication skills

- Ability to multi-task efficiently

- Possess an exemplary character and a strong leadership presence.

- Ability to manage a classroom of students (up to 30 for older students)
