POSITION SUMMARY:

The YMCA's Camp Lincoln in Kingston NH is now hiring for the 2023 camp season!!!!

This is a great seasonal opportunity where you will enjoy the summer being outdoors, on a lake, doing fun activities and making money!

The Waterfront Director provides overall leadership and management to all aquatic activities held for summer camp. The Waterfront Director is responsible for safety at the waterfront, scheduling lifeguards, swim lesson design/ implementation, development/ program evaluation and risk management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Customer service.
• Functions as the risk management director for all aquatic activities.
• In conjunction with the summer program coordinator, responsible for scheduling lifeguards.
• Conducts in service training following ARC best practices. Ensures correct positioning of all active guards.
• Ensures ratios of 1 guard to 15 campers is maintained at all times.
• Plans and executes an innovative, engaging and age appropriate swim program.
• Actively supervises staff throughout the day and is present at the Waterfront.
• Supervises and evaluates all lifeguards.
• Assists with ensuring program quality and execution across all waterfront activities.
• Ensures that Waterfront area and rescue equipment is maintained to a high standard. Communicates needs in a timely manner to the Program Director.
• Ability to remain calm during an emergency. Proficiency in leading dive line for all lifeguards.
• Assist with special events and summer fundraising campaigns.
• Builds positive relationships with campers, parents, caregivers, and counselors to leverage Camp Lincoln’s position and provides a high level experience to all.
• Provides effective and timely communication to the Program Director.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 3 years leadership and childcare experience.
• American Red Cross (ARC) Lifeguard Certification required.
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) Certification required.
• Experience managing a similar sized aquatic facility.
• Teaching, facilitating, teambuilding experience preferred.
• Supervisory and staff development experience preferred.
• Prior experience working with children preferred.
• Familiarity with various outdoor activities.
• Strong working knowledge of computers and all common programs such as Word and Excel.
• Administrative experience.
• Ability to effectively delegate responsibilities to others and support them in their endeavors as necessary.
• Ability to handle sensitive, confidential information.
• Energetic and positive personality.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to stay calm in stressful situations.
• Ability to respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in emergency situations.
• Must be able to complete YMCA required training as scheduled by management.
• Must maintain updated certifications of the job (CPR and First Aid/AED).
• Must successfully clear FBI and state criminal background checks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Ability to push, pull, bend and kneel regularly.
• Ability to communicate verbally (in-person and on phone) and in writing is essential.
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
• Ability to view and enter data on computer for long periods of time.
