SUE Field Technician Job at A. Morton Thomas & Associates
A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee owned consultant engineering firm, is seeking a
SUE Field Technician to join our Team in
Washington, DC and add significant value to our company growth. Position can also be located in our Rockville, MD office.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and interpret complex utility records and prints
- Travel to assigned work site and perform utility designation, (identifying and marking underground facilities)
- Use electromagnetic locating equipment and follow the AMT designating process to ensure accurate and complete locates
- Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures established by management
- Contact Senior SUE Tech when in need of assistance
- Other duties assigned by management
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience with SUE and/or private utility locating
- Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and all types of field conditions
- Physical demands include extensive walking and bending. The employee must have the ability to open manhole covers and or other structure of varying weights
- Ability to work on a vacuum truck, perform maintenance, complete test holes and reports accordingly. Maintain all vac truck equipment and supplies
- Ability to read and understand directional maps, topographic maps and various types of utility prints
- Ability to use and interpret various pieces of electromagnetic utility locating equipment
- Ability to multi-task, i.e. make research calls for one project while commuting to another project, coordinate with crew members on various jobs
- Ability to work out-of-town on an as needed basis
