Structural Steel Detailer Trainee

About us

SME Steel Contractors of Utah is a Structural & Misc. Steel Fabricator, in West Jordan Utah.

SME Steel Contractors. is an AISC certified Structural Steel and Miscellaneous Metals fabricator.

We are looking for quality applicants to fill trainee position in our Structural Steel Detailing department. As a trainee you will support our Detailers and Checkers, with unlimited advancement opportunities. Any Individuals with an interest in 3D modeling and drafting urged to apply.

Job Description Summary:

The Detailer trainee responsibilities and duties will include:

• Working with Senior Draftsman and Checkers to provide quality shop and field drawings.
• Learning to read Structural and Architectural design drawings.
• Review and revise drawings based on Checkers comments and instructions.
• Learn to understand and apply AWS welding symbols, etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: D.O.E

Education:

• High school or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

• No Experience necessary but any Computer aided drafting experience would be helpful.
