Borton-Lawson is seeking a Structural Engineer to perform engineering work relating to the structural design, development of construction documents and construction services for industrial and commercial projects. This would include site assessments, project scoping, structural analysis and design, and specification writing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities would include site assessments, project scoping, structural analysis and design, specification writing and working with structural designers to develop contract drawings.

May work with Project Managers on the following:

  • Scoping, estimating, and contract preparation.
  • Bi-monthly monitoring of job progress and profitability.
  • Detailed design recommendations.
  • Work assignments could include industrial building superstructures and foundations, equipment foundations, utility bridges and supports, tank foundations, access platforms, catwalks, and stairs.
  • Work with the Project Manager and clients in a way which will promote the goals of teamwork, client satisfaction, continual improvement, and profitability.
  • Prepare reports and specifications, make meeting presentations as required, and obtain client and regulatory approvals as necessary.
  • May perform inspection of existing projects, and/or supervise inspection of water and wastewater work.


Required Skills

Required Experience


Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering. Two years experience or the equivalent thereof with familiarity in specific structural engineering discipline requirements. Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate a plus.
