The County of San Diego is currently accepting applications for the position of
STOREKEEPER
The County of San Diego is looking for quality candidates who have previous work experience using effective safety storeroom practices while handling a high volume of inventory in a large storeroom or warehouse. Storekeepers are allocated to various departments throughout the County of San Diego and are responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the overall activities in a commissary, large storeroom or warehouse. The work of a Storekeeper involves ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, and issuing a wide variety of items. Positions assigned to the Sheriff's Commissary, also involve preparation and delivery of orders to people in custody. Incumbents will spend the majority of time performing essential functions that are considered routine and physical in nature. Work assignment will involve using P-cards to order materials, supplies, and equipment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Two (2) years of storekeeping or warehouse experience consisting of ordering, receiving, storing, and issuing supplies, materials, and equipment; OR,
2. Eighteen (18) months of experience as a Stock Clerk with the County of San Diego.

NOTE
: Depending on assignment, select positions may require possession of a valid Certified Forklift Operator's license from a recognized agency or organization within thirty (30) days after appointment. Experience in providing first line or full supervision over employees responsible for performing storekeeping work is desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work primarily takes place indoors within an office or storeroom environment or warehouse environment (separate building). Work involves frequent travel to various locations within the County to pick up or deliver items. Work involves occasional exposure to heights, loud machine noises, unpleasant odors, gaseous fumes, dust, debris, and varying temperatures. When assigned to the Probation or Sheriff's Department, work involves frequent interaction with juvenile wards or adult inmates who may be uncooperative, upset, hostile, and potentially violent.

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position.

Employees who work at County locations subject to the California Department of Public Health State Public Health Officer order are required to be fully vaccinated. In addition, booster-eligible employees must receive their booster by March 1, 2022, or within 15 days of becoming eligible for a booster if they are not eligible as of March 1, 2022. If there are CDPH date changes for Booster compliance, employees must come into compliance in accordance with that date.

EVALUATION
The names of qualified candidates will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based on scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire. If you are successful in the initial screening process your application will be reviewed individually to confirm that the information you provided is accurate and qualifying.
