Job Description
Our mission is Changing Lives Through Vision! We are a growing vision therapy practice with locations in Minnetonka and Otsego. We work with children and adults of all ages. We specialize in the treatment of learning-related vision disorders, oculomotor delays and neuro-rehabilitation. 80% of what we learn happens through vision. Vision is a learned skill that can be developed with vision therapy.
Vision Therapy Aims to:
- Help patients develop or improve fundamental visual skills and abilities
- Improve visual comfort, ease, and efficiency
- Change how a patient processes or interprets visual information
What makes a great vision therapist?
- A passion for working with children and adults and improving their potential
- The ability to think on your feet and troubleshoot quickly
- Ability to clearly communicate exercises and home assignments to children and adults
- Team-oriented work ethic
What experiences and skills do we need in a vision therapist?
- Associate’s Degree (preferred) or higher in education and/or background in a similar field (education, paraprofessional, child development, rehab assistant teacher, teacher’s assistant, AT)
- Past work in special education and with special needs students preferred
- Past work with adults or children with brain injury is a plus
- Proficient computer skills
- Strong time and project management skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- The ability to learn a task by reading and quickly perform a task
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of Vision Therapist
- Working with athletes, children, adults, individuals with specials needs and individuals that have suffered from traumatic brain injuries
- Discussing vision therapy cases to formulate and/or alter vision therapy plan
- Documentation of therapy procedures and patient's progress throughout their therapy program
- Promote our vision therapy program to other professionals and organizations
- Communicating with vision therapy patients and/or their parents via phone, email, mail or personally
