Job Description: 6BT Acute & Intermediate Med/Surg Unit

• Become part of a brand-new hospital! Our goal is to build a team that values teamwork, professional development and great patient care! 5BT Short Stay, is a 10-bed Med Surg unit. Our team provides care to patients in observation status with a typical length of stay of 24-48hr. This fast-paced unit supports a nurse ratio of 4-5 patients. Med Surg Leadership and the entire UNC Healthcare team supports a positive environment with professional growth opportunities to advance up the clinical ladder.

Shift-Hours/Holiday/Weekend/Call Requirement:

• 7:00 am - 7:00 pm.
• 7:00 pm - 7:00 am.
• Weekends: Every other weekend, Saturday and Sunday.
• Holidays: Assigned to a holiday track.
• No Current on call requirement right now

Responsibilities:

• Care for patients before and after any medical surgical procedure
• Assess patient condition, administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, keep records, and provide patients with support and education.

Must Haves:

• Valid NC RN License
• BLS Certification
• Experience: 1-year acute care experience.
• Education: Associates accepted; Must agree to enroll in BSN program within 4 years of being hired; Must complete BSN within 7 years of start date.

About the Unit:

• Number of beds: 24
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1:4-5
• Patient Population: Medical. Cardiac. Orthopedic, General and GYN surgery.
• Other clinicians on staff: Nurse Aids

Pay: $30.75 - $49.14 per hour
