Position Summary:

This position is located in Topeka, at the Eisenhower State Office Building, and is within the Bureau of Human Resources. As part of the KDOT Organizational Development Unit, this position provides organizational and staff development services and performance for KDOT, its employees, and those employees served beyond KDOT. The incumbent will train state employees initially on the use of basic/intermediate Microsoft Office and Windows applications provided to KDOT and other students. Classes are delivered face to face or remotely using MS Teams. A primary need and focus of this position is to meet the class requirements of KDOT specific education tracks, namely the ET Progression and software/system rollouts as is necessary. An immediate priority for this position is to learn and teach AASHTOWare Project as part of a large new system roll-out. Future expansion will include teaching upper-level Microsoft classes, Crystal Reports as well as technical KDOT specific software including but not limited to engineering and geographic programs. We are looking for someone that is comfortable speaking in front of and leading adult participants in computer-based instruction and use of related technology. You must be an energetic & positive team player but also able to work independently. We are looking for someone who is motivated, ready to hit the ground running, and able to learn new software to teach adults.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develops, and conducts training for students as a means of improving student’s job skills, knowledge and abilities by offering a variety of learning activities and exercises. Training design and delivery shall reflect leading edge adult learning concepts, consideration of customer needs and time constraints, incorporation of “how to learn” techniques and appropriate technology.
  • Delivery of classes will include occasional travel and overnight stay within Kansas. On average this is 16-20 days per year.
  • Serves as an in-house training and technology resource, especially to answer student questions outside of class.
  • Develops training classes, class curriculum, and job aids such as training manuals handouts, PowerPoints and on-line training tools as needed.
  • Participates in professional development activities designed to improve skills and effectiveness as a trainer and performance consultant.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

· Two years of experience in developing and delivering training materials and presentations. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Two years of experience teaching computer software applications.

· Two years of experience developing adult educational curriculum.

· Experience with an intermediate to advanced skill level using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

· Experience using MS Teams, MS Access, Crystal Reports.

Licensing & Certification:

· Valid Driver’s License at time of appointment is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41,870.40 - $48,484.80 per year
