Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Staff Assistant in the Office of Child Well-Being. Under general direction, this position will provide input and assistance with management functions involved in the statewide planning and implementation of division programs and initiatives. The position will conduct and provide oversight of a variety of special projects and will monitor and review the division’s budget and contracts. Job Responsibilities

1. Serves as staff assistant to the Deputy Director of the Office of Research and Child Well-Being, providing input and assistance with the implementation of division programs and initiatives

2. Monitors initiatives to ensure compliance with Departmental policies and procedures

3. Serves as liaison to other Departmental divisions, as well as other agencies and organizations

4. Reviews correspondence and apprises the Deputy Director of urgent issues

5. Assists the Deputy Director and program directors with the planning and execution of divisional trainings

6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in public or business administration

2. Requires one year of professional experience in a public or private organization, or satisfactory completion of an agency approved professional management training program

Preferred Qualifications (In Order of Significance)

1. 2 years of professional experience as an administrative assistant in a public or business organization

2. 2 years of professional experience working with budgetary and contract issues in a public or business organization

3. 2 years of professional experience serving as a liaison for public or business organization

4. 2 years of professional experience conducting or overseeing special projects in a public or business organization

5. 2 years of professional experience conducting research in a public or business organization
