Position Summary:
The staff accountant is responsible for assisting the Controller in performing multiple duties related to the accounting functions of the organization within established deadlines. The primary focus will be maintaining and processing the company biweekly payroll.
Core Responsibilities:
  • Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly, salaried, and temporary employees across four companies; including reviewing and importing hours from time and attendance system, entering tax and direct deposit information, administering regulatory requirements, e.g., garnishments, tax levies, and support orders, and other adjustments to pay as necessary.
  • Manage all the accounting for payroll in ERP system, Dynamics GP
  • Process monthly billings from providers. Review billings for accuracy and approve for payment in a timely manner. Resolve discrepancies with carriers and payroll.
  • Work with HR & Finance teams to gain a deep understanding of compensation practices and timelines across all lines of business. Regular collaboration with HR for employee set up and maintenance to ensure accurate and timely pay and benefits management.
  • Oversee the PS 401k Audit working closely with Controller for profit-sharing and HR for 401k and personnel documentation.
  • Produce scheduled and ad-hoc reports pertaining to payroll, accounting and human resources requirements.
  • Complete monthly assigned journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Ownership of Fixed Asset accounting and reporting with the guidance of the Assistant Controller
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Work experience should include knowledge of payroll practices, and regular collaboration between HR and Accounting
  • Must have strong knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including accounting software payroll systems, Experience with Paycor and Dynamics GP a plus.
  • Demonstrates exceptional analytical skills and ability to create useful and actionable reports from data using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly around numerical accuracy.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations; excellent customer service skills.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Possess strong organization skills and ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work on deadline.
  • Accounting Degree with 2+ years experience.
