Responsibilities:
We are looking for a
Staff Accountant whose responsibility is to provide day to day financial support to business operations in North America. The Staff Accountant, reporting to the Accounting Manager, works independently and self analyzes their data and reports. The Staff Accountant works to identify issues and offers ideas to their manager that can drive results to meet and/or exceed targets and to create efficiencies. This position interacts with and builds relationships with agency staff at all levels.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assists with month-end close process
- Prepares various monthly journal entries and ensures conformance to Company’s accounting policies and U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Applies client payments and reconciles cash accounts
- Prepares and analyzes balance sheet reconciliations for manager review and investigates reconciling items
- Prepares monthly inter-company billings and reconciliations
- Audits employee expense reports to ensure adherence to Company’s guidelines and proper GL coding
- Backup to Accounts Payable function
- Files various tax returns including HST, QST, and sales and use
- Assists with both internal and external audits
- Updates and maintains documentation of own processes
- Participates in ad hoc special projects as required, and other tasks as assigned
Education and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Finance- 1+ years’ relevant work experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially with higher level Excel functionality, and NetSuite experience preferred
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work with a wide range of people
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment; must be a self-starter
