Job Summary:

The staff accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.


Essential Functions:

  • Maintains accounting records, financial reports and general ledger accounts.
  • Reconciles bank statements by comparing statements with general ledger.
  • Maintains accounting databases by entering data into the computer, processing backups.
  • Maintain and manage several smaller entities in QuickBooks.
  • Assist with managing accounts receivable invoice processing and receivable collections.
  • Make daily, weekly, monthly and annual journal entries.
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
  • Verifies financial reports by running performance analysis software program.
  • Determines value of depreciable assets by running depreciation software program.
  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplishes accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed.

Competencies:

  • Knowledge of accounting systems and practices.
  • Working knowledge of GAAP.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics.
  • Knowledge in data entry.
  • Skill in using computer programs, spreadsheets, and applications.
  • Ability to understand and interpret policies and regulations.
  • Ability to examine documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ability to prepare documents in response to complaints and inquiries.
  • Ability to prepare records in accordance with detailed instructions.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of staff accountant experience.

Physical/Mental Demands:

Normal office environment. Work is typically performed at a desk or table requiring the use of standard office equipment. Intermittent sitting, standing, and stooping. May view computer screen for long periods of time. Can work some virtual hours upon managements approval.
