The Staff Accountant assists with the maintenance of timely and accurate accounting records for the laboratory. Maintain various ledgers and journals; provide Management with operating results and financial reports. Review related information to evaluate results and communicate findings to Management.
Essential duties and responsibilities:

The Staff Accountant assists with the maintenance of timely and accurate accounting records for the laboratory. Maintain various ledgers and journals; provide Management with operating results and financial reports. Review related information to evaluate results and communicate findings to Management.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Prepares monthly journal entries and enter in Lawson.
- Reviews General Ledger and other reports for variances at month end and analyze cause for variances.
- Assist with running monthly responsibility summaries, send to department manager and analyze cause for variances.
- Prepares any A/R invoicing done through the Finance department.
- Manages the maintenance of the property, plant and equipment records of all laboratory assets.
- Responsible for recording daily cash transactions, including bank reconciliations.
- Supports the Accounts Payable function with vendor maintenance, invoice coding and/or invoice approval.
- Assists with annual budget process by creating files, uploading into Lawson and verifying data.
- Assists with preparing for audits from external and internal auditors.
- Continually challenge present and proposed systems and innovate new ones.
- Utilizes and program various reports via the use of programming applications, including Lawson Financial systems, Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Completes new employee safety training and the training required for specific duties.
- Complies with all company, departmental and regulatory policies and procedures.
- Assists with other projects and assignments as requested.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and/or Finance with minimum of one to two years Accounting experience preferred; or equivalent work experience.
- Attention to detail and good analytical skills.
- Independent judgment and good reasoning ability.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
