General Purpose

The Sr Engineer for the Asset Management Center of Excellence develops asset management best practices associated with the operation and maintenance of the company's generation, transmission, and distribution utility facilities and related systems. This role functions primarily as a bridge between identified business needs and the system level technical requirements to accomplish those needs. This includes best practice recommendations, business justifications, business need to technical requirements translation, asset performance assessments, predictive analytics concepts, and preventive intervention recommendations. This work requires a big picture view across multiple utilities to help shape future direction in a way that moves us towards the efficiency benefits of shared approaches while respecting the unique needs and maturity levels of each business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Support all asset management related activities for the organization
  • Collaborate with groups to analyze and develop joint-owned capital projects to ensure a high level of reliability and customer service
  • Develop highly complex engineering evaluations of shared systems and approaches
  • Perform presentations / lead discussions with senior management, field operations staff and regulatory agencies on asset management issues
  • Facilitate collaborative discussions on best practices involving multiple utilities and disciplines
  • Act as a lead/expert in the work group; train and mentoring asset management managers, engineers, and technicians in deploying best practices
  • Develop recommended engineering philosophy documentation in collaboration with multiple utilities
  • Develop recommended process documentation in collaboration with multiple utilities
  • Develop financially based value frameworks to guide operation and maintenance investment decisions
  • Develop recommended shared IT system approaches in collaboration with IT
  • Develop rapid prototypes of new analytics concepts
  • Assist in value framework assessments and asset intervention impact assessments
  • Participate in development of long term, system level roadmaps in collaboration with multiple utilities
  • Evaluate asset analytics proposals including development of high-level business cases
  • Determine methods and techniques for improving results
  • Recommend alternative engineering solutions to management to meet business needs
  • Maintain project timelines and budgets

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • A minimum of five or more years experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems, or related professional experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of principles in area of engineering specialty.
  • Project management and leadership skills including the ability to work as a team member, to maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliver on commitments.
  • Understanding of company's business, and relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, local laws, regulations and the National Electric Codes.
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure situations while maintaining focus and calmness.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills involving the ability to work cross-functionally to understand requirements, present alternatives, and recommendations.
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including automated tools.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to consult with internal and external customers regarding matters/issues which may be sensitive in nature
  • Demonstrated knowledge of utility data model design or general database design principles.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the core principles of asset performance analytics or predictive analytics
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of analytics software such as Power BI, Python, Dax, R, Machine Learning

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 15.00% of salary.
