The Sr. Director, Global Project Engineering, North America has responsibility to lead a Project Engineering organization responsible for executing project design and commissioning activities with excellence in the areas of safety, quality, timeliness, and cost. This role includes the strategy, successful deployment, and execution of the North America region’s engineering projects, while functioning as a member of the Global Project Engineering Organization. Preferred location is Grand Rapids, MI (other locations Atlanta, GA, Milwaukee, WI, Plano, TX)

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $175,000.00-$250,000.00 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

This is What You Will do in This Role:

  • Team building: Focused recruiting, training, and assimilation of engineers into GPE.

  • Development and progression of team technical and project leadership skills to support business growth/mix

  • Change Management: Lead communication, stakeholder buy-in, and implementation of process change

  • Facilitate idea generation and lead cross functional process improvement initiatives

  • Identify and leverage standardization and structured problem solving to achieve productivity

  • Accurate monthly forecasting of engineering hours and costs in-line with financial forecasts

  • Active leader in the Global Engineering organization with focus on a standardization, repeatability, consistency and accuracy.

  • Analysis, accountability, and continuous improvement of team performance KPIs

Key responsibilities

  • Accountable for ensuring engineering deliverables from design through commissioning are successfully executed on time, with quality, and on budget.

  • Generating engineering organizations monthly forecast for project execution and measuring adherence to set targets.

  • Recruiting, developing, and retaining talent to ensure proper skillsets are in place to support project execution.

  • Coordinating with Solutions Development, Product Management and Research and Development to ensure Dematic solutions are delivered in a consistently and accurately.

  • Working with Project Management to ensure project schedules are established accurately reflecting engineering skills and capacities.

  • Collaborate on the development of annual department budget setting in alignment with Dematic’s 3 year STRAP planning.

  • Working with Regional Sales Directors to provide precontract support in concept generation, costing, and post contract project implementation.

What We are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics). Master’s Degree preferred.

  • 10+ years of prior experience in a leadership role.

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering or project management discipline.

  • Experience using LEAN Six Sigma methodology to improve processes (preferred)

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to deliver results.

  • Proven strong leadership and coaching skills; the ability to capitalize on and apply these skills to create highly productive and highly engaged teams.

  • Ability to create and deliver executive level presentations

  • High personal impact and excellent communication skills (internal and external)

  • Ability to navigate, influence and operate in a strongly matrixed global organization.

  • Unquestioned integrity with assertiveness, presence, and confidence.

  • Demonstrated experience in driving initiatives, while holding teams accountable for results and ensuring continuous improvement.
