Position Description:

The perfect candidate for this role MUST be located in Northern California and have a strong industry knowledge background
. The role of the Spirits Specialist is to support and assist field sales representatives with the goal of enhancing the company’s spirits business. The primary responsibility will be to develop new opportunities for the Wine Warehouse spirits portfolio. Key initiatives will include engaging buyers in the on-sale and retail to find new business and enhance account relationships. An essential part of the role will be the education of sales teams. This key sales and educational position reports to the Director of Spirits.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist in the development of individual sales representative’s spirits knowledge as it relates to our brands and book.
    • Responsible for the sales execution of key spirit initiatives in the top spirits accounts in territory.
    • Assists in the achievement of monthly goals assigned as established by the Company in conjunction with suppliers’ initiatives.
    • Responsible for the execution of promotional programs with Sales management and suppliers as directed by company management.
    • Team up with Sales management to accomplish new product training, product presentation for key accounts and the development of new accounts.
    • Assists in staff seminars and training.
    • Work with assigned suppliers on scheduled “ride-withs” and supplier market visits.
    • Enhance spirits revenue through barrel sales, cocktail programs and niche brand focuses.
    • Responsible for product training sessions and seminars with on and off-sales groups.
    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining ongoing relationships with key craft and premium spirits customers.
    • Assist in the allocation and sample process

Requirements:

    • Above-average knowledge in key distilled spirit categories
    • On-sale channel/service industry experience is a big plus
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a 4-year college or university; one or two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Minimum 2 years sales experience in spirit sales
    • Superb management and organizational skills
    • Strong business, communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, and implement solutions
    • Computer literate – proficient in Microsoft Office / Google Suite
    • Excellent command of written and spoken English
    • Must be able to present to a large group
    • Must be proactive and a self-starter

Physical Demands:

    • The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.     • Visiting accounts daily, requiring getting in and out of the vehicle, bending, stooping and reaching.
    • Placing cases of products in the trunk of the car – removing each case from the trunk of the car and delivering it to the customer using a hand truck – each case is estimated to weigh 50 pounds or more.
    • Repetitive bending, kneeling, stooping and occasional climbing are required.
    • Traveling to company-scheduled meetings with a minimum travel time of two (2) hours.
