Position Summary

Responsible for evaluating patients and developing treatment plans that integrate with the continuum of care.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluates patients, gathering data from the patient, physician, interdisciplinary team meetings if available, family, and significant other persons and data sources.
  • Develops treatment plans which integrate with the continuum of care and have specific goals and objectives.
  • Provides care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned caseload.
  • Assesses data reflective of the patient’s status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs, and provides the care needed as delineated in the departmental policies and procedures.
  • Competent in the use, care and maintenance of profession specific equipment, observes safety precautions and provide verbal explanations of the equipment and its purpose.
  • Re-evaluates and modifies treatment plan and goals when appropriate, and prepares written documentation as required by the department, and the care team.
  • Recognizes and communicates when the patient has received optimal benefit from speech therapy.
  • Ensures accurate billing for own therapy services.
  • Understands and respects age group, cultural and religious beliefs of clients, community, and staff.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Respects the rights and privacy of others and holds staff member information in strict confidence.
Qualifications:

Education/Training

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved program in speech/language pathology.

Licensure/Certification

  • Maintains current Speech Language Pathologist license in the State of Florida.
  • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certification.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license and must be insurable under the Orlando Health insurance carrier’s requirements and standards.

Experience

  • Two (2) years’ experience as a Speech Therapist required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) required.
