- Oregon schools have been directed by the Governor under OAR 333-019-1030 to ensure that school teachers, staff and volunteers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. "Fully vaccinated" is defined as 14 days after receiving all required doses of an approved COVID-19 vaccine (currently two shots of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or one shot of Johnson & Johnson vaccine). Under this rule employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Exemptions may be made only for eligible medical or religious reasons.
- Deliver culturally appropriate Juntos programs including workshop series and family nights, following OSU and NCSU Juntos components, cultural norms, and program structure.
- Coordinate district collection of OSU Juntos Registrations and track participation.
- Promote and support the Juntos School Club and college visits and distribution of educational resources.
- Recruit students and families for Juntos workshops and activities.
- Coordinate Juntos logistics with school districts.
- Attend Juntos trainings and meetings
- Convene district and community partners; provide training on effective interventions and planning for the needs of identified youth.
- Collect and analyze youth, systems, and community level data to make recommendations for interagency program changes.
- Develop, update, and maintain process/procedure documents and forms.
- Provide structured opportunities for community resource specialist to develop and apply culturally responsive practices and/or strategies.
- Model culturally responsive practices and facilitate the application of skills related to implementation.
- Coordinate sharing of resource information to enhance access to school and community services.
- Conduct formal and informal needs assessment.
- Work with district staff to collect data to assess the impact of targeted activities.
- Participate in the regular review of data and processes.
- Implement program changes identified through data collected.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, social services or related field applicable to the assignment; Masters Degree preferred.
- Valid Oregon Teaching license, Social Worker license, Child Development Specialist (CDS) Authorization, or School Counseling Certification and/or minimum of five years’ position specific experience.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in both English and Spanish required.
- A minimum of three years’ experience implementing of curriculum and methods for elevating youth voice.
- Experience or training using Youth Participatory Action Research preferred.
- Demonstrated experience assisting administrative staff and teams understand how implement youth voice curriculum and practices to improve youth engagement.
- Minimum three years successful leadership experience at the building or district level, including project planning and facilitating groups/meetings required.
- Experience applying Culturally Responsive practices and , Trauma Informed Care, and Social-Emotional Learning is required.
- Demonstrated experience with data based decision-making, evidence-based assessment and intervention practices are required.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate various stakeholder groups, solicit input, synthesize and summarize information.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds; including successful experience in facilitating youth involvement is essential.
- Ability to use technology as a tool in daily work.
- Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing).
- Ability to meet the physical and mental requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
- Valid Oregon Driver’s License or ability to obtain one is required.

POSITION PURPOSE: This position works with district and community partners to enhance programs and collaborative efforts that support Latinx and underserved students with the goal of connecting youth with post-secondary programs and community resources. The Specialist is responsible for strengthening collaborative efforts within districts and countywide to improve education outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS:
School Improvement Services focuses on improving achievement for all students within our community, through providing high quality professional development, technical assistance, and instructional-based support for educators in 16 Lane County School Districts. Services are provided to educators at all levels from kindergarten through graduation, in all core content areas, and can be designed to meet the collective needs of all districts or differentiated to meet individual district needs.
School Improvement Services collaborates with local districts, higher education and other agencies to provide leadership and support in pursuing and administering grants for the benefit of Lane County’s schools and students.
