K-5 Spanish World Language Instructor - Willamette Primary School


This is a part-time position (approximately 16-20 hours per week) during the 2022-2023 school year.

Start Date a week of October 3rd, 2022.


Position Description:

Plan a learning environment that includes second language learning with interactive listening and speaking activities to engage students in using second language through conversation. This can be accomplished through use of story (oral, role play, reader's theater, TPRS - Total Physical Response Story, written); use of kinesthetic and visual activities; songs and chants and poems; cultural connections and understandings; responsive and generative writing; embedded vocabulary into conversation and interactions; optimal comprehensible input. The instructor will teach in each K-5 classroom, one thirty minute lesson per week.

An employee in this position is expected to have the ability to maintain a climate of learning and have the ability to use own initiative in responding to student's learning needs.


Desirable Qualifications:

Native Language or Fluency in Spanish.

Experience in teaching Spanish and Spanish culture to non-native speakers.


Ability to:

  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with students as well as fellow teachers;
  • Access and use electronic communication
  • Appropriately respond to and direct students
  • Maintain confidentiality in all phases of work, i.e. student interactions, meetings, student and parent rights.

Education:

College diploma/degree or international equivalency.
