Position Overview:

The Administrative & Family Services Coordinator is responsible for providing administrative support with a special focus on the social services program at the Hollister Corps Community Center.

Duties:

  • Must be able to supervise the operation of the Social Services in the absence of the Corps Officers.
  • Must be able to create reports detailing how grants were used and provide them to Corps Officers.
  • Mange daily client base and coordinate with other staff or volunteers to ensure that duties and assignments are met.
  • To participate in a team effort to support the Corps Officers in meeting the needs of the community.
  • Work at maximum level of efficiency and output.
  • Maintain regular office hours, as follows: Monday-Friday 9am-2pm.
  • Keep statistics of all social service programs.
  • Available to attend weekly staff meetings, advisory board meetings, and travel for special conferences and trainings.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations as stated in The Salvation Army Handbook for Employees.
  • Abide by The Salvation Army safety policies.
  • Follow Social Services Code of Ethics.
  • Provide support for special community events.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Corps Officer.

Family Services:

  • Oversee intake of new social service clients.
  • Schedule appointments and manage case load.
  • Conduct interviews and assist clients per program criteria and eligibility.
  • Establish appropriate processes for the most needed services, that are already offered including: food distribution and food only gift cards, convenience food resources, utility assistance, thrift store vouchers, out of town medical appt. gas vouchers, and hygiene supplies.
  • Develop new programs based upon community and client need.
  • Offer or refer clients to support outside or our established programs, striving to provide wrap around services designed to give life skill support and training for clients to thrive and be empowered to embrace self-sufficiency.
  • Collaborate with other social service support in the community including, but not limited to: Oasis Family Resource Center-CAPK WIC First Five, The Lighthouse, Crossroads Church, Grace Lutheran Church, Clinica Sierra Vista Differential Response, The Hope Center, and High Desert Women’s Center.
  • Understand and utilize the referral process to our Adult Rehabilitation Centers.
  • Represent The Salvation Army at local outreach, fundraising, and various community events.
  • Form relationships with police, fire, hospital, and other municipal authorities and attend community councils and collaborative meetings.
  • Partake of ongoing training within Salvation Army territorial and divisional social services departments.
  • Spearhead use of client bar code scan cards for all social services.
  • Delegate and assign data entry of enter clients and assistances into Wellsky to Business Manager or pre-approved volunteers
  • Ensure that Wellsky is being utilized for regular and seasonal assistance programs in the most efficient and timely matter.
  • Organize and protect client privacy and information.
  • Train and coordinate welcome desk volunteers to ensure coverage during open hours.
  • Properly report social service statistics.
  • Be prepared to present current impact of social services programs to Advisory Board, Delegated Donors, Print and Digital Media, Divisional Development Team, and as directed by Officers.
  • Utilize received donations to provide support for social service clients.
  • Seek out and be able to write local grants for monetary funds to support programs.
Desired Skills & Abilities:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, with strong oral and written communication skills
  • Two years previous/similar experience preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision, and strong leadership skills required
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work with people, including community groups, clients, and staff in a concerned and caring manner
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Capable of handling and controlling multiple projects
  • Energetic, personable and dependable.
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army practices and organization desirable
