The New Orleans Career Center (NOCC) prepares Orleans Parish public school students and local adults for high-wage, high-demand careers with clear sightlines to future growth and prosperity. Our trainees explore, prepare for, and enter career pipelines – through technical training, industry-based certifications, and hands-on and work-based learning. We envision a world where every public school student in New Orleans graduates from high school are equipped to choose their own future and shape the future of New Orleans. New Orleans Career Center offers adults highly focused, industry-informed training to enter or re-enter the workforce.

New Orleans Career Center will strategically grow programming and partnerships over the next five years to expand pathways and serve over 1000 New Orleanians annually. We anticipate relocating to our newly renovated, 140,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art technical training facility in Spring 2023.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) in marketing, journalism, public relations, or related topics or at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in marketing communications, content strategy, and/or digital marketing roles.
  • You have experience designing graphic assets for presentations, social media, and email marketing.
  • You have experience editing websites on platforms like Squarespace or WordPress.
  • You have experience using design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, or a professional equivalent.
  • You consider yourself a generalist who can handle multiple disciplines. You have basic skills to design graphics, craft a compelling social media video, and write social media captions.
  • You have experience developing email marketing campaigns in Mailchimp.
  • You are a resourceful, tech-savvy problem solver.
  • You understand digital best practices for content creation, publishing, and distribution.
  • You have strong editorial and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • You are able to tailor messages to the varied media and channels that people use to consume and process information.
  • Project management experience in a cross-functional environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, drive for quality, and ability to deliver results quickly
  • The ideal candidate is a self-starter, independent, creative, and is comfortable moving multiple projects from brief level through to completion with support.
  • Enthusiasm for our programs, trainees and mission is a must.
  • Nonprofit or experience in education is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with community management or community outreach is a PLUS.
  • You are able to show a portfolio of marketing campaigns or materials that showcase solid skills or evidence of successful work (online/social media presence or history).

What You’ll Be Doing:

Social Media and Digital Marketing Specialist (70%): NOCC is seeking a creative and strategic thinker to join our team for a full-time position, onsite at our facility in New Orleans, LA. The Social Media & Digital Marketing Specialist will develop online digital content initiatives to support NOCC’s 2022-2025 Strategic Plan and amplify brand awareness for NOCC on a national level. The successful candidate will have excellent writing skills, demonstrated knowledge of social media platforms, aptitude for marketing and communications, ability to demonstrate engagement via social media analytics, and awareness of best practices as they evolve.

  • Under the direction of the Chief Strategy Officer, maintain a social media calendar that aligns with NOCC-wide activities, goals, and strategy. Write copy, coordinate, and create graphic assets for NOCC social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube).
  • Set up and manage appropriate technology/platforms to schedule and publish all social media content, ensuring the timely publication of all posts.
  • Develop a digital marketing project management system in Monday.com.
  • Collaborate with and coordinate activities of external contractors, including photographers, graphic designers, communications/public relations consultants, and others.
  • Monitor and coordinate community engagement on all social media channels
  • Design graphic assets for social media, infographics, presentations, and marketing collateral.
  • Manage reporting and analytics for all social channels, while tracking the overall performance of channels to develop more effective strategies and campaigns.
  • Develop and distribute monthly e-newsletters and e-blasts.
  • Collect and integrate industry and audience trends from fellow team members that align with NOCC’s core messages.
  • Create initiatives or activities to inspire student/staff engagement with social media and digital platforms.
  • Maintain up-to-date and well-organized archives of NOCC’s digital assets, including still photos, videos, infographics, graphic design components, email lists, etc.
  • Attend internal and external meetings with executive leadership to capture content and stories for digital marketing and social media.
  • Collect photos, videos, and stories from trainees, instructors, and other NOCC stakeholders.
  • Keep the NOCC website up to date.

Executive Support (30%): NOCC is seeking candidates who can also support the Chief Executive Officer’s communication and coordination, especially regarding scheduling and special projects related to fundraising and the capital campaign.

  • Provide ongoing executive and communications support to the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, and Director of Development and Capital Campaign.
  • Assist Chief Executive Officer with scheduling, Google calendar management, and coordination of meetings.
  • Assist with planning and execution of on-campus events.
  • Develop a basic understanding of the goals and programs of NOCC to support the effectiveness of key responsibilities.
  • Help foster a welcoming environment for all staff and trainees such that they feel safe and able to grow and challenge one another in ways that ultimately promote progress towards organizational goals.
  • Model efficiency and integrity with regard to NOCC policies and procedures such that time are maximized, work is completed, and we stay compliant.
  • Other duties to support the organization, as needed.

This position reports directly to the Chief Strategy Officer.

Compensation:

Competitive salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications. NOCC also offers a competitive benefits package that includes 80% employer-paid health insurance, long- and short-term disability insurance, 401K, 10 days of paid time off in excess of NOCC org-wide breaks, a flexible weekly schedule to tackle role responsibilities, and professional development resources and opportunities.

The annual pay band for this position is $50,000 - $70,000.
