Position purpose

The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is the primary resource for shipping and receiving activities in the plant. The shipping and receiving supervisor directly manages hourly employees and also interacts with all support personnel to assure that all established key performance metrics are achieved.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

• Overall accountability for all shipping and receiving activity in the plant
• Maintain working knowledge of best in class Logistics practices including HSE, quality

(breakage), on-time shipments, and FG inventory management

• Schedule work & assign resources
• Ensure compliance to all established policies and procedures
• Drive continuous improvement in all aspects of the shipping and receiving process including on time delivery, lowest cost freight options, and timely loading and unloading
• Resolve interpersonal conflicts that arise on the shop floor
• Responsible for overseeing and leading the work of a group of employees and is also responsible for planning and maintaining work systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage the optimum performance of its employees and other resources within the business unit.

Supervision Responsibilities:

· This position provides direct supervision to Hourly Employees (2-20 employees)

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience (2-3 in a supervisory role) in a logistics or warehousing environment
• Associates Degree or addition years of experience in lieu of degree
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Proven team leadership and coaching skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills

Work Requirements

· Position requires physical ability to climb, crawl, bend, and stand for long hours. Data analysis and problem solving are also required in the position.

Special Position Requirements

· Travel required to various facilities in the company may be expected, travel anticipated is less than 10%.

Preferences

• Previous experience with refractories and/or ceramics a plus
• Experience in a union environment
• Experience with logistics software
• Experience with Microsoft office

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 per year
