Job Summary
This position is primarily responsible for ensuring all materials are transported and/or unloaded in a timely manner while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Core Responsibilities
- Truck spotting and moving of semi-trailers around the yard facility at the Plant as well as an off-site warehouse approximately 3 miles from the Plant.
- A CDL license in both manual and automatic transmissions is required to perform these tasks
- A practical skills assessment in which you demonstrate your skills in transportation of semi-trailers may be required
- Driving of fork and clamp PITs (Powered Industrial Trucks) which requires training and certification
- Production relief assistance which includes but is not limited to: assisting in all areas of production as assigned
- Management of inventory, cleanliness, and efficiency of offsite warehouse
Other Responsibilities
- An active and non-restricted CDL license is required to be considered for this role.
- Must be able to drive both manual and automatic transmissions
- Operate a forklift or other Powered Industrial Vehicles (PITs) to move materials from location and/or load and unload finished and unfinished goods
- Load and unload trailers, as needed
- Condense and/or move partial or full pallets of ingredients daily.
- Setup, maintain and operate assigned equipment.
- Accurately complete all necessary shipping and receiving documentation, as required
- Comply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF Requirements
- Perform general housekeeping duties in the department
- Perform additional tasks as needed to include, but not limited to cross training on other machines, monthly inventory counts and/or in other areas.
- Perform any other work as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- Must be willing to work 8-12-hour shifts and up to six days a week, overtime and/or weekends as needed
- Willingness to work and proper attendance for weekend work, which includes inventory shifts, which may be scheduled for either Saturdays or Sundays, is required.
- Must have at least 6 months of continuous work experience with at least one employer within the last 12 calendar months.
- Applicant must live in the following counties: Floyd, Polk, Haralson, Cherokee+Etowah, and Bartow
- Ability to perform basic math functions (adding, subtracting, fractions, etc.) and use of scanning equipment
- Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 50 pounds regularly
- Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently
- Must be able to climb stairs and frequently embark and disembark a forklift
- Must be willing to work in a production environment requiring safety glasses, face shields, hair/beard net, facial covering, and hearing protection. All PPE is provided by Tyson Foods
- Must provide and wear slip resistant footwear
- Must be willing to withstand working in hot environments
