Role

Under general supervision performs general clerical duties of moderate difficulty within either the Detention or Law Enforcement Divisions. Positions within the Detention Division will be located within a secure detention facility.

Major Duties, Responsibilities

  • Inputs data into various databases for review and dissemination with heavy emphasis on accuracy.
  • Reviews and files paperwork in alphabetical, numerical, subject matter, or other related organizing order.
  • Creates and maintains catalog of stored or archived files as well as other operational logs and files. Retrieves records as requested from the Records Management Center or other storage facility and prepares copies for release. Purges and /or destroys obsolete files and data. All duties shall be performed in accordance with applicable laws and Sheriff's Office policies.
  • May prepare and place supply orders and distribute orders to internal customers (which will include inmates if incumbent accepts assignment of jail commissary duties).
  • Performs other related job duties as required or assigned.

  • Become familiar with criminal justice documents, state and federal statutes along with agency policy and procedures.

  • Comprehend and disseminate written material accurately
  • Operate a variety of standard office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive arm-hand movements
  • Enter data into a keyboard device
  • Remain in a sitting position for extends periods of time with ability to lift over 40 pounds.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience:
One (1) year of general office experience with any combination of education, training and/or experience which demonstrates the potential to perform the duties of the position.

Education:
High school diploma or GED.

Interpersonal Skills:
Integrity, honesty, dependability, and courtesy.

Other Skills:
Working knowledge of: business English, spelling, arithmetic, punctuation and grammar; office practices and procedures; the operation of various office equipment; general understanding of criminal justice process and agency policies and procedures.


REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT WITH THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE

All persons applying for employment with the Sheriff's Office shall be required to meet the following general qualifications: integrity, honesty, dependability, industry thoroughness, accuracy, good judgment, initiative and courtesy. All persons will be required to complete a thorough background investigation to include, but not limited to polygraph, psychological and physical fitness test. All persons must successfully complete a minimum six-month probation period. All persons must be a U.S. Citizen and a resident of Yavapai County. Where the position requires the operation of a motor vehicle, the applicant must have a valid Arizona operator's license.
